Bobby Crush first came to public attention after six winning appearances on Hughie Green‘s British ITV talent show, Opportunity Knocks, in 1972.[2] He received the Variety Club of Great Britain award for Best New Artist of 1972.[2] He recorded for the Philips label in the UK and his recordings were produced by Norman Newell, who had previously worked with Shirley Bassey, Judy Garland, Johnny Mathis and Crush’s role model, Russ Conway.
By the age of 18, Crush had starred at the London Palladium having already achieved an album in the top 20 and a single, “Borsalino”, in the top 40.
His West End successes include three seasons at the London Palladium (guest starring with Jack Jones, Vic Damone and Dame Julie Andrews). As a regular performer at that venue, Crush’s name appeared on the “Roll of Honour” at the Palladium’s stage door. He also played a year at the Victoria Palace with Max Bygraves in SwingalongaMax, has appeared at The Royal Variety Performance and starred in his own one-man show at London’s Fortune Theatre.

The water was cold
and Windermere holds bold,
yet as I witnessed the early morning mist
hovering with a twist,
the romantic feel is still here
as a deer or two look on nonchalantly
with feelings that true nature provides
and me that sometimes hides
then faces love head on in a location that is home to the true spirit of enchantment.
Blessed be my encampment
knowing that you love me.
I don’t know exactly where the magnetism of love centres in the lake district,
but as Wordsworth’s daffodils toss their heads in sprightly dance,
could it be lake Windermere that holds the key, that unlocking power which when people are not sure
it’s hidden secrets says to us
it’s you who is full of love
and your love is too
and helps us to release pain
deep deep inside
where rain bounces in our soul
and Windermere let’s in the light of love
and brightens our life
enough for us too carry on
with very little or no strife……

Looking back to the seventies again and I had the record ‘top of the world’ a great song by the Carpenters. The thing was with this 7 inch vinyl single was it had the centre piece missing, and we, that is my dad didn’t have that plastic Centre bit the slotted onto the record player central bar that the records used to slot onto. So I used to accurately Centre the record so it was running dead true as the turntable revolved around…. Sweet junior days memories…. Of the seventies…recorded 2022

The music lives on… By Stephen 12th July 2023….
The last key was played and covid came stopping the music for a while. Life that came so freely left in shackles while the melody stopped for a while. But after the pandemic lost its grip and the people they began to sip the fresh air once more, my friend struggled to resume his melody and the renovated place that once was home continues without those tunes that once graced the place and enchanted mine ear filling me with much cheer. However, as my friend recently said cheery bye for a while and undoubtedly rose to glory, you know that music plays on in my soul, and the songs were numerous filling me with great joy, where my friend still tinkles those ivories in a paradise now full of sounds of Heavenly bliss. The first song I heard was can you feel the love tonight and that cannot and will not be the last, as the other songs of beauty won’t go away, like somewhere over the rainbow and a tear slides down the colourful arc as the love emenates outward, reminding me of why we are here, living this life on this mortal coil, it is love that keeps our hearts beating, and the melody of our favorite tunes reminds our souls to smile, well for a while anyway! And while my friend waves bye bye the song in my heart says hello forever, ’cause life never dies but lives on forever, the music you played will keep me alive forever x
